East Coast Trip 2024 - August 29
August 29: Good morning Thursday and the weather is still as humid as it is hot. We found another activity to do and still see a bit of DC, a 2-hour buffet lunch cruise on the Potomac River. We found a parking garage near the Wharf and on our way we came across Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips restaurant and if we weren't on our way to a buffet lunch, we might have stopped in as we both love fish & chips. The boat, named the "Spirit of Baltimore" operating as the "Spirit of Washington" is meant for dining and dancing. There were numerous anniversaries and birthdays being celebrated. The dining was on two decks and we were assigned a table. There was a full drinks bar and we purchased our favorite, a beer for Alan and a hard seltzer for me. The waiters were responsible for the buffet line and called tables in an orderly fashion. The food was delicious and I know we both overate. After lunch, the DJ got the music going and dancing was in full swing. The boat went in one direction (don't ask me which) as far as the Woodrow Wilson Bridge (I-95), turned around and came back. We saw the grand homes along the river, so called "General's Row" where military generals would stay when they were in town and located near the Navy Yard. We could see the Washington Memorial and the US Capitol from various angles. It was an enjoyable time. Our little Jeep (without AC) has been hot to drive in but we open the windows and have 55 mph AC. Because of the heat again, we stayed closed to our RV home.
