East Coast Trip 2024 - July 14

July 14: Alarm was set for 5:30 am as we had a long travel day, nearly 300 miles, and I believe it's the longest drive we'll have on this trip. One good thing out of this is we will have a 4 night stay at Cove Oceanfront Campground, Parkers Cove, NS.  Along the route we stopped, as a group, at the UNESCO World Heritage Site - Grand-Pré National Historic Site. Most of us (Americans) have not heard of the Acadians. We watched a 22 minute video which gave the history, in brief, of the Acadians. Grand-Pré was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1955 for the following reasons: the Deportation of the Acadians; it was a centre of Acadian activity from 1682-1755; a strong attachment remains to this day among Acadians throughout the world to this area, the heart of their ancestral homeland and symbol of the ties which unite them. Today the total population is ~500,000 – 2,000,000. Regions with significant populations are United States 901,260, Canada 300,000 to more than 500,000, France 20,400, New Brunswick, Canada 108,375, Quebec, Canada 83,945, Nova Scotia, Canada 49,205, Ontario, Canada 83,945, Prince Edward Island, Canada 8,265, Saint Pierre and Miquelon 3,000, Brittany 3,000, Maine, United States 30,000, Louisiana, United States 815,260. Who knew? We arrived at our campsite and settled in to a beautiful view of the Bay of Fundy, from another viewpoint. Directly across from us is Saint John, New Brunswick, although the bay at this point is so wide, all we can see is water.

March 27: The alarm clocks were off and it was good to wake up with no specific plans in place except to visit with friends. It was a hot day in Yuma so the ACs were running all day in the RV. We spent a quiet day relaxing with our friends. I had prepared a few meals for the freezer for our trip, and we had one of my ground beef and vegetable "stoups" - not a stew or a soup, but a combination of both - with some delicious warm sourdough bread and garlic butter. Ice cream was for dessert, thanks to our gracious hosts.

Mexico 2025 - Day 15

March 23: We hit the road again today this was the longest day on the road - 233 miles on 2-lane, narrow, potholed roads from Bahia de los Angeles to Vicente Guerrero. We left before 8:30 am and arrived at our next stop at nearly 6 pm. We did stop for a "bio" breaks and lunch. It was a tough day especially for our solo camper. She had to do everything on her own. We took pictures along the way of wild horses and the beautiful mountainous scenery. When we arrived, we all got ourselves situated and then went to the campground's restaurant, Posada Don Diego, for cocktails (more Margaritas) and dinner which was all part of our tour package. We all had made meal choices before we left the US which we didn't remember, so our chosen meal was a nice surprise. There wasn't much socializing that evening after dinner because we were all very tired.

East Coast Trip 2024 - October 8

October 8: Balloon Fiesta departure day. It has been an amazing time at the Fiesta. We have met some wonderful folks from all over the US, as is usual on a FRVT. We enjoyed the balloons again but they were flying in full force. It was hard to leave the park(ing lot) because this was the very best day we had for balloons. They were everywhere. We packed up our stuff, hitched up the Jeep and were on our way. We made a reservation with Harvest Host at a museum at the south entrance to the Petrified Forest National Park and arrived at about 3:30 pm. We settled in, enjoyed a meal then toured the museum and, of course, found something to buy. We were able to get a site with 30 amp power so we could run an AC.
