East Coast Trip 2024 - June 18

June 18: We were woken to a wild thunder and lightning event in the early hours of the morning, it was so loud that Newton came to hide in our bedroom. He hasn't reacted to those kinds of loud noises in a long time. Lucky was a little jumpy too. We missed the alarm this morning but were able to get out at around 10:15 am. The drive wasn't spectacularly interesting but it progressed without incident. The scenery today was much like yesterday, forests and trees, and we came across more road construction. We did have a little challenge finding a place to stay because there weren't many available, despite the many small towns we drove through. We were finally able to find a site at the sprawling KOA near Barrie, Ontario. There are already some signs that we could experience another thunder and lightning event and I hope it's not going to be in the middle of the night again. Alan cooked some burgers on the BBQ - so nice to have home cooked burgers. Tomorrow's destination is at a South African cousin's  home, David and his wife Pat, who live in Delhi, ON. We plan to stay several days.
