2024 East Coast Trip - June 4
Today was a day to relax and recuperate. As most of you know, Alan (W7RQM) and I (KK7NAP) are amateur radio operators so using our radios will be an important part of the journey - making radio contacts along the way. This KOA has 360 views as you saw from yesterday's pictures. This afternoon, beginning at 5:15 pm, we took a Tribal Guided Tour in an open truck ("jeep" style). But now comes the hard part - trying to describe what we experienced. What we saw was spectacular, majestic, awesome, impressive, and just downright amazing. The Tribal guide was very knowledgeable. Anyone who is a movie buff knows who John Ford is. Well, in the 1940s, John Ford discovered Monument Valley, gained tribal permission to make movies in the valley, and the rest is history. John Wayne's many movies were shot in the valley with John Ford being the director. There were no clouds today so when we returned the sunset was nice but not spectacular. We'll be on the road again tomorrow, heading to Grand Junction, CO.

I lived in Grand Junction for a few years! Enjoy Colorado.
