East Coast Trip 2024 - September 14

September 14: Today, the rain started in the morning with some heavy rain showers then the clouds stuck around making the weather very muggy and hot. So we stayed close to home once more. Dogs, of course, needed their walks outside but that was it. We are enjoying our new found TV series Murdoch Mysteries, a Canadian crime drama show while I continue with my knitting. The sun came out and we enjoyed seeing blue skies after experiencing so much wet and gloomy weather.

September 13: Another rain, rain go away, please don't come back, day! The rain started in the early hours of the morning with some light showers then got progressively worse over the course of the day with thunder and lightning. So we were forced to stay close to home once more. Dogs, of course, needed their walks outside but that was it. I brought and bought yarn and spent quite some time knitting today while being entertained by the television. Red Heart Yarn has a new "no color stitching" yarn to be made into granny squares. I made one granny square with great success. I needed some tension testing first to obtain the correct hook size so that the colors align correctly.

East Coast Trip 2024 - September 12

September 12: Tallahassee is receiving rain from Francine which means we are home bound for most of the day. Light rain started early in the morning and by about 11 am we lost power. Our generator is doing a good job, we are very fortunate to have it. Power was restored some later. We had rain on and off for the remainder of the day. Dogs just lay low and so did we. A day indoors except for walking the dogs for their constitutional. Still waiting for the transmission.

September 11: A somber day for our country and certainly one I will never forget. We didn't do much outside of the RV today. I went shopping and made the most of the cool in the big stores by walking every isle in Costco and checking out stuff at the Walmart Supercenter in the same shopping center. Basic household items still need to be replenished and because we don't have the same kind of storage we do at home, I have to shop more often. We have been watching the weather because we are still in Tallahassee, FL Hurricane Francine landed in Louisiana at precisely 5 pm. This weather system is definitely impeding our trip home along with the transmission replacement. So we stay. Newton and Sunny are dealing with our confined quarters really well, and Lucky will find anything to climb into and spend a little time.

September 10: Today, we decided to visit the Florida State Capital which is in Tallahassee and we decided to take Sunny with us. We haven't taken here lately because of the heat. Google Maps always gives suggested routes, sometimes good and sometimes not so good. We chose a route and it took us through the Florida State University campus. The buildings are quite impressive, all built with a reddish brown brick facade. Well, we didn't have too much luck because there is a large amount of construction going on around the Capital Building. The Florid Supreme Court Building is across the street from the Capital Building. We walked around a bit but the heat and humidity stopped us from going too far. We took a few pictures. After a cool drink at a cafe in the area, we left, and that was the extent of our sightseeing today.

September 9: We are still in Tallahassee, FL, and today is Newton and Sunny day. They have appointments at Petsmart to be groomed. Newton at 11:30 am and Sunny at 12:30 pm and did they need a groom. Their last one was at the end of May. If I'd weighed Sunny before and after, she would likely have lost about 2 lbs. Newton on the other hand doesn't have much hair so his cut was less dramatic. Alan put up his vertical ham radio antenna in the hope of making some contacts. During nearly all of our travels, the band conditions have not been good to make any contacts. They have been better these last few days. The time without the pups was quiet and even Lucky enjoyed her time "alone." After I picked up the dogs, we spent our evening much the same as we have lately.

East Coast Trip 2024 - September 8

September 8: Today we slept in and it was wonderful. The weather was a bit cooler even though there is rain and therefore still high humidity. After a very late breakfast, we went in search of Frank Lloyd Wright's, Spring House. Well, the information on Google wasn't correct and a tour of the home wasn't possible today. So we went onto our next stop, Costco, to do a bit of shopping. We came home with dinner - chicken tacos - Costco style, along with several other essentials, of course. We returned to the RV to find our dear Sunny barking up a storm at the other dogs in the park. Unfortunately, Sunny is becoming a barker while we are not home and I'm not sure how we can stop her. The rest of the day was relaxing.
